Process and Timeline

Our Admission Open House is on Sunday, October 14.

• The Lower School (Grades PreK-5) program will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Lower School gymnasium
• The Middle School (Grades 6-8) Program will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center
  
• The Upper School (Grades 9 -12) program will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center
  

• Registration will take place 15 minutes prior to the start of the program.
  

• Middle and Upper School tours available starting at 1:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.
  

  New This Year

• Evening Open House for Waterside School and ReachPrep families and students: October 2, program begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Middle School Commons.
• Evening PreKindergarten and Kindergarten Open House: Thursday, November 15, 2012, program begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Lower School.
  

You may join a Small Group Tour for an initial overview of King and the admission process. Please call the Admission Office at (203) 322-3496, Ext. 350, to reserve a place, space is limited. Admission packets are available for download below.

1. Parent Interview 
Prospective parents will meet with the Director of Admission. We would appreciate having the application and questionnaire prior to the interview.

2. Application
A completed application, including the $75 application fee, parent questionnaire, and student questionnaire (Grades 6-12) must be received by December 15, 2012.
A completed file, including all recommendations, transcripts, visits, and testing must be completed by January 1, 2013.

3. Student Visits

Visits are scheduled once an application is received. 
Grades PreK-1
A group class visit is required and a brief screening is scheduled at a separate time.
For Grades 2-5
The visit includes time in the classroom in the applicant's current grade.
For Grades 6-12
The visit includes time in the classroom in the applicant's current grade. Students applying to Grade 6 and Grade 9 have an opportunity to visit those grades as well. On a separate date, prior to the class visit, the applicant meets with the Director of Admission.

4. Testing

• Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Grade 1 applicants are tested on a date separate from their group class visits.
  
• Grade 2: Applicants are tested during their visits to King.
  
• Grades 3-4: Applicants are required to take the ERB CTP IV offered at King. Please contact the Admission Office for a registration form.
  
• Grades 5-12: Applicants take the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam). Register online at www.iseetest.org. King offers the ISEE test on Saturday, December 1, 2012, and Saturday, January 12, 2013. The School also accepts the SSAT test results for students applying to Grades 9-12. To register online, go to: www.ssat.org

October 3 - Ridgefield Academy Secondary School Fair - 6:00 p.m. at Ridgefield Academy.
