Athletics at King

The MS Grade 7/8 and the US Athletic Programs are integral parts of every student’s experience while attending King. The Athletic Department offers a diverse and competitive program designed as a critical component of each student’s overall educational program. The range of offerings provides students with the opportunity to compete in a variety of Varsity, JV, and MS team sports. King strives to instill a true sense of sportsmanship in each student athlete, to prepare teams and individuals to perform at their very best, and to always focus on achieving victory when competing, while understanding that winning only has value when coupled with respect and compassion for our opponents.

Being an athlete at King means being a member of a team, committing oneself to a common goal, and giving 100% all of the time. King athletes are not only representatives of their teams, but also of their school. We believe our athletes should embody the positive attributes of sportsmanship, respect, teamwork, commitment, dependability, selflessness, loyalty, self-discipline, and a strong work ethic.

King seeks to develop young men and women who excel in all areas of life, including athletics. Team sports require both a mental and physical commitment. Learning to maintain self-discipline and self-confidence during competition is one of the greatest values of an athletic endeavor. As team players are continually learning advanced technical skills, they are at the same time learning invaluable life skills. When our student/athletes graduate, we want them to have gained an appreciation for the value of physical activity and team play, which will enable them to maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout their lives
